'Tap, tap, tap' Into N.S.D.R

This week we are bringing awareness to this notice of Non-Sleep Deep Rest. During this last year, we have noticed our clientele’s anxieties and stress levels running higher than normal, obviously and not surprising during a pandemic year. Not only are our clients coming in for healing and recovery physically but a shift of priority has been managing stress levels.

Intentional breaks and pauses in our day, week, and month are highly beneficial for cognitive and physical wellbeing.

Manual therapy will not only allow your body to receive improved soft tissue health and recovery, stimulation to the lymphatic system, reduced muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce stress hormones, increase joint mobility and flexibility, and even improve skin tone.

When you drift off in a session you are activating this theory of Non-Sleep Deep Rest (N.S.D.R). When you are awake and not fully asleep that is where the magic is happening. This added benefit during a massage therapy session will enhance learning and cognitive capacity. This is a powerful restorative state, similar to sleep. The great thing is that it is cost-free and drug-free. Learning about this technique will allow you to experience it anywhere you can take a 20-minute break.

Our +Pause Events host a Yoga Nidra meditation. All you do is come lie, listen and rest. You will find yourself in a state in which you are neither awake nor asleep and your body is in deep rest. You don't need any prior experience just a willingness to explore this tool to benefit your mental health experience.

Quiet space in a bodywork session or practicing Yoga Nidra will kick start you into N.S.D.R as a key player in managing stress and reducing anxieties. There are countless studies to prove its relevance but here are a few ( 1) , 2) , 3) ) to show the efficacy of Yoga Nidra.

Come check out our Yoga Nidra meditation every third Thursday in 2021, virtually or in Austin, TX.
